THE JOHAN CRUIJFF ARENA

The stadium of the famous Amsterdam football club AFC Ajax has changed his name from Amsterdam ArenA to Johan Cruijff ArenA in 2018, in honour of the legendary number 14 Johan Cruijff. The stadium offers 54.990 seats and is the biggest in The Netherlands. In 2020 the stadium will host 4 matches of the European Championship and the stadium also often hosts concerts of major performers. If you want to visit the ArenA but you don’t have a ticket for a football match or a concert taking place there, it is also possible to do an ArenA Stadiontour. During this tour, a guide will show you areas of the stadium that are normally not accessible to the public, such as the press conference room, the dug-out and the changing rooms of the football players. The tour takes around 75 minutes.

AMSTERDAMSE POORT

The 30 years old Amsterdamse Poort is the biggest shopping mall of Amsterdam and home to 162 different shops. You can find everything you need here; banks, clothing, shoes, flowers, furniture and a big variety of food of all kinds of different cuisines (representing the multicultural inhabitants of this area of Amsterdam). The Amsterdamse Poort also organizes art, music and food events and has trendy pop up stores to promote local products.

MULTIPLEX PATHÉ ARENA

This cinema complex shows the latest international blockbusters in original language (with Dutch subtitles).  Pathé ArenA also has IMAX movies with digital surround sound, crystal clear images and a huge screen. This new technology will make you feel as if you were a part of the movie, instead of just a spectator.

ZIGGO DOME

The Ziggo Dome has opened its doors in June 2012 and has been created to offer 17.000 visitors the perfect live experience of their favorite singer or band. The creators have thought about all the facilities the fans (and the artists) need before, during and after the concert. For example, there is a bar (the Ziggo Foyer), restaurant (Soundbites) and there are 14 ‘food outlets’ spread over the different floors. Fun fact; the Ziggo Dome has 2 kilometers of beer pipes leading to the bars inside the building.

AFAS LIVE

The former Heineken Music Hall has opened in 2001 and has the motto ‘Live will never be the same!’. The 600.000 visitors a year will definitely agree with this. According to the experts the music sound in the Black Box (the main hall of AFAS Live) is the best there is. For this reason AFAS Live has been nominated several times for the Pollstar Award as international concert location. After nearly every concert a Dutch talented band or artist performs an after show of the same music genre on the Isla Talent stage.

AMSTERDAM CITY CENTRE

Even though the Amsterdam ArenA area has a lot to offer, you might also want to go and have a look in the city centre of Amsterdam. The public transport connection could not be any better; from the Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA station you can either take the metro or train into the city centre and to Amsterdam Central Station. This will only take about 15/20 minutes and will give you the opportunity to visit the world famous city centre of Amsterdam with its countless museums, canals, coffee shops, boutiques and markets.
